The technique
What lymphatic drainage actually is.
Lymphatic drainage massage in Dubai is offered almost everywhere now, and the term covers a lot of things that are not it. Manual lymphatic drainage — MLD — is not a firmer massage done slowly. It is a different technique with a different purpose.
Your lymphatic system is a network of vessels sitting just under the skin that carries fluid and waste back toward the bloodstream. Unlike blood, lymph has no pump. It moves when you move, and when the vessels are stimulated directly.
MLD works with very light pressure — lighter than most people expect, roughly the weight of a coin — in slow, rhythmic, directional strokes that follow the lymph pathways. Press harder and you compress the vessels shut, which is why a deep tissue therapist without MLD training cannot simply do it gently.
The recognised schools are Vodder, Leduc and Casley-Smith. Any therapist offering MLD should be able to tell you which method they trained in. If they cannot, they are probably doing a light Swedish massage and calling it lymphatic drainage.
What a session is like
Light. Much lighter than you are expecting. People who have booked deep tissue before often assume something is wrong in the first few minutes. It is not.
Slow and repetitive. MLD works through rhythm, not pressure. The same sequence gets repeated over an area many times.
Directional. Strokes move toward the lymph nodes — neck, armpits, groin. Your therapist usually begins at the neck, which surprises people booking for swollen ankles, but the system has to be cleared from the top for the lower work to have anywhere to drain to.
Little or no oil. MLD needs slight skin traction, so it is often done with very little lubricant.
You may need the bathroom afterwards. Moving fluid means your kidneys process more of it. That is normal, and it is the clearest sign the session did something.

What lymphatic drainage does not do.
These are the four things people most often expect from this treatment, and the honest answer to each.

Post-surgical work — our policy
Post-operative MLD is common after liposuction, tummy tuck, BBL and similar procedures, and there is reasonable evidence it helps with swelling and comfort during recovery. It is also where an untrained pair of hands can do real harm.
We need your surgeon's clearance, including the date from which manual work is permitted. We do not work over incisions, drains or unhealed tissue. We are a massage service, not a post-operative clinic — if your recovery needs clinical supervision, compression garment management or wound care, that belongs with your surgeon's team.
If anything about the area looks wrong on the day — heat, unusual redness, hardness — your therapist will stop and tell you to contact your surgeon, and you will not be charged for a session ended on those grounds. We would rather turn a booking down than take one we should not have.
How many sessions
For general fluid retention and post-flight puffiness, one session does something you will notice and it lasts a few days. For post-surgical recovery, follow what your surgeon recommends rather than what a massage provider tells you — they know your procedure and we do not. Any provider quoting you a package of ten before asking a single question is selling, not assessing.

A separate certification, not an add-on
Narra trained in Ubud, Bali, and is separately certified in manual lymphatic drainage. The two techniques have almost nothing in common, which is why the second certification matters. Six years of practice.
Best for water retention, tired legs, post-flight
She also works Balinese and Swedish, so if a session needs to be part drainage and part ordinary massage, she can do both properly within the same hour. Languages: English and Indonesian.
If she is not available, we say so
We will not send a therapist without the certification and bill it as lymphatic drainage. A light massage by someone untrained in MLD is not the same treatment.

Does lymphatic drainage massage really work?
For fluid retention and swelling, yes, and the effect is usually noticeable the same day. For weight loss, no. For cellulite, no in any lasting sense. For lymphoedema, it is part of a clinical treatment plan and not something a home massage service should handle alone. The honest answer depends on what you are asking it to do.
Do you lose weight after lymphatic drainage?
Not fat. You can weigh less immediately afterwards because you have shed retained fluid, and that returns as you rehydrate. Anyone selling this as a weight-loss treatment is misrepresenting it.
Does lymphatic massage help with cellulite?
It can make skin look temporarily smoother by reducing fluid retention in the area. It does not treat the structural cause of cellulite and the effect is not permanent.
Is lymphatic drainage massage painful?
No — it is the lightest treatment we offer, roughly the pressure of a coin resting on the skin. If it hurts, it is not being done correctly.
How soon after surgery can I have lymphatic drainage?
Whenever your surgeon says, and not before. Tell us the date they gave you and we will work to it. We do not take post-surgical bookings without that clearance.
Will I need the bathroom afterwards?
Probably, and sooner than usual. That is the expected outcome, not a side effect — it means fluid moved.

Yes — home service is the only way we provide it. A certified therapist comes to you in 20 to 30 minutes with everything needed.
Is your therapist actually certified in MLD?
