Dubai · Trained in Ubud, Bali
Balinese massage in Dubai, by a therapist who trained in Ubud.
Balinese massage is a single flowing sequence that combines deep thumb pressure along the body’s pressure points with long, sweeping strokes, plus acupressure, warm oil and gentle stretching. It sits between the firm precision of deep tissue and the rhythm of Swedish — firmer than most people expect from a “relaxing” massage, and more continuous than deep tissue.

What it actually is
Ask five Dubai spas what Balinese massage is, and you get five answers.
We looked at nine Balinese massage pages currently ranking in Dubai. No two listed the same techniques. One page’s own text said “kneading, rolling, pressing” while its own structured data on the same URL said “stretching, acupressure, aromatherapy” — no overlap at all. Two describe it as light and gentle; two describe the therapist working deep into the muscle. Not one names a single place inside Bali.
That is a problem, because the pressure is the one thing you need to know before someone is in your living room. So here is our answer, and it comes from a therapist who trained there rather than from a template.
What a Balinese massage involves
- Deep thumb pressure along the body’s pressure points — this is the part people do not expect.
- Long, sweeping strokes covering the full length of a limb, alternating with the point work.
- Palms and forearms working along the energy lines, not just fingers.
- Acupressure held on specific points.
- Gentle stretching folded into the sequence rather than bolted on at the end.
- Warm oil throughout, on a proper table.
How firm is it, honestly?
Firmer than a Swedish massage, lighter than a full deep tissue session. Narra’s own description: it sits between the firm precision of deep tissue and the rhythm of Swedish. The transitions are seamless — you will not notice her switching from one technique to the next, which is what makes it feel like one continuous treatment rather than a sequence of steps.
Pressure is agreed before she starts and adjusted whenever you ask. If you want it lighter, say so; that is still a Balinese massage.

How it compares
Balinese, or one of the others?
The most searched question about Balinese massage is how it differs from Swedish, Thai and deep tissue. Nobody ranking in Dubai answers it properly, so here it is. Same price either way — pick by what you want, not by what costs more.

She sets up and asks
Table, fresh linen, warm oil. Then two minutes on what you want from the hour and how firm you like it. Pressure is agreed before she starts.
Light lymphatic work first
Narra typically opens with light, rhythmic drainage strokes. It warms the tissue and makes the deeper work land better.
Then the Balinese sequence
Deep thumb pressure on points, long sweeping strokes down each limb, acupressure and gentle stretching — moving through the whole body without a break in rhythm.
Who does the work
Narra, trained in Ubud, Bali.
Every Balinese massage page in Dubai says “authentic”. Across the nine we measured, not one names a therapist who trained in Bali — the closest was an unnamed “our Indonesian specialists”. Eight of them have “bali” in the domain name.
Narra has six years in practice, trained in Ubud, and holds a separate manual lymphatic drainage certification. She speaks English and Indonesian. Ask for her by name.

Good to know
Balinese massage in Dubai: your questions.
What is a Balinese massage?
A Balinese massage combines deep thumb pressure along the body’s pressure points with long, sweeping strokes, acupressure, warm oil and gentle stretching, worked as one continuous full-body sequence. Massage Dubai Marina delivers it at home across Dubai from AED 400 for 60 minutes, excluding VAT.
Is your service strictly professional?
Yes. This is professional therapeutic massage only, delivered by trained therapists working under a licensed business, with standard draping throughout. Any request outside that scope ends the booking immediately.
How firm is a Balinese massage?
Firmer than Swedish, lighter than a full deep tissue session — it sits between the two. The deep thumb work on pressure points is the part most people do not expect. Pressure is agreed before the session starts and adjusted whenever you ask.
What is the difference between Balinese and Swedish massage?
Swedish is long gliding strokes at light to medium pressure, built for relaxation. Balinese uses those flowing strokes too but adds deep thumb pressure on specific points, acupressure and stretching. If you want to fall asleep, book Swedish.
What is the difference between Balinese and Thai massage?
Thai is done fully clothed on a floor mat with assisted stretching and no oil. Balinese is on a massage table with warm oil. Both include stretching, but almost nothing else is shared.
Balinese or deep tissue — which should I book?
Deep tissue stays on one problem area with sustained pressure and can leave you sore the next day. Balinese moves through the whole body in a continuous rhythm and rarely does. Book deep tissue for a specific knot; Balinese for whole-body tension.
How much does a Balinese massage cost in Dubai?
AED 400 for 60 minutes, AED 550 for 90 and AED 680 for 120, excluding 5% VAT — AED 420, 577.50 and 714 including it. Travel, the table, fresh linen and warm oil are included, with no call-out fee in our core areas.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Clear about two metres of floor for the table. A bedroom, living room or hotel room all work. Standard draping throughout — only the area being worked on is uncovered.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Usually not. Balinese distributes the work across the whole body rather than concentrating it, so it rarely leaves the heaviness a pure deep tissue session can. Drink more water than usual afterwards.
Can I get a Balinese massage at home in Dubai?
Yes — that is the only way we work. A therapist reaches Dubai Marina, JBR, Bluewaters, Emaar Beachfront and Palm Jumeirah in 20 to 30 minutes with a professional table, fresh linen and warm oil, at any hour.
Will my therapist be a woman?
Yes. All six of our therapists are women. Narra is the one trained in Ubud, Bali — ask for her by name when you book.
