Emmy is certified in prenatal and postnatal massage and has six years in Dubai hotel spas behind her. She works side-lying with full bolster support from the second trimester onward, and is exceptionally attentive to how you are positioned before she starts.
She is also the therapist to book for sensitive skin and for anyone who finds standard pressure too much.
How Emmy works
Emmy’s approach prioritises safety and comfort above everything else. This is not a compromise — it is a skill. Working with pregnant clients, post-surgical clients and people with heightened skin sensitivity requires a therapist who can deliver genuine therapeutic benefit while respecting the body’s current limitations. Emmy reads these limitations faster than most.
Her aromatherapy technique is where her hotel spa training shows. She selects essential oil blends based on a brief consultation before the session — what you are feeling, what you need, whether you are pregnant (some oils are contraindicated during pregnancy), and whether you have any skin sensitivities. The oils are not an afterthought added to a standard massage — they are central to the treatment. Lavender and chamomile for sleep, ylang-ylang and bergamot for stress, eucalyptus and rosemary for alertness.
Her pressure is naturally gentle to medium — she can go firmer if you ask, but her default style suits people who find deep tissue too intense. The strokes are long, slow and rhythmic, designed to calm the nervous system rather than break up adhesions. For her prenatal clients, she uses a specific side-lying position with bolsters that support the belly, hips and knees, allowing her to work the lower back and hips without any abdominal pressure.
What to expect in a session
Emmy spends more time on setup than most therapists — and this is deliberate. Correct positioning, the right bolster placement, and a comfortable temperature all matter more when the client’s body is sensitive or changing. She will check that you are comfortable before she begins, and she will check again if she changes your position mid-session.
A 60-minute aromatherapy session follows this general flow:
- Consultation and oil selection (5 minutes): Emmy asks what you need from the session and selects her oil blend accordingly. For prenatal clients, she confirms your trimester and any complications to ensure safe oil choices.
- Back and shoulders (20 minutes): Long, flowing strokes with the selected aromatherapy blend. The warmth of the oil, the scent and the steady rhythm work together to lower cortisol and heart rate within the first ten minutes.
- Legs, arms and extremities (20 minutes): Gentle circulation work on the limbs. For prenatal clients, this includes specific techniques to reduce ankle swelling and ease the leg cramps that are common from the second trimester onward.
- Scalp, face and finishing (15 minutes): Light pressure on the temples, jaw and scalp. This is the portion of the session that clients remember most — and the reason many fall asleep before it is finished.
At 90 minutes, Emmy adds dedicated hip and lower back work (critical for prenatal clients), extended foot reflexology, and more time with the scalp and facial massage. For pregnant clients in the third trimester, the 90-minute session allows her to address every area that pregnancy stresses — lower back, hips, legs, feet, shoulders — without rushing.
Who books Emmy
- Pregnant clients (second and third trimester). Prenatal massage requires specific training, specific positioning and specific oil knowledge. Emmy has the certification and the experience — she has worked with hundreds of pregnant clients across six years. If you are pregnant and want a massage, she is the only therapist on our team we would recommend without hesitation.
- New mothers (postnatal recovery). The weeks after delivery bring their own physical stresses — back pain from feeding positions, shoulder tension from carrying, general exhaustion. Emmy’s postnatal work addresses these specifically, with gentle techniques that respect a body that is still recovering.
- People with sensitive skin. If standard massage oils cause reactions, or if you bruise easily, or if firm pressure leaves you sore for days rather than hours, Emmy’s gentle approach and hypoallergenic oil options are designed for you.
- Stress and insomnia. Emmy’s aromatherapy sessions are the most effective sleep treatment we offer. The combination of lavender-chamomile oils, gentle pressure and extended scalp work creates a sedative effect that lasts well beyond the session. Evening bookings with Emmy are popular for this reason.
- Anyone who finds other massage too intense. Not everyone wants deep tissue. Not everyone wants to feel “worked on.” If your ideal session is gentle, warm, scented and calming, Emmy delivers exactly that — and she does it at a professional level, not a spa-day level.
Emmy also performs
In addition to aromatherapy and prenatal massage, Emmy performs Swedish relaxation. Her Swedish sessions carry the same gentle, attentive quality — if you book her for Swedish, expect the same careful setup, the same attention to pressure, and the same unhurried pace. The main difference is the absence of targeted aromatherapy oils.
